Getting a mortgage as an "autónomo"
If you are self-employed or a sole trader, i.e. “autónomo” in Spain, then you can get a mortgage. Most lenders will ask you to provide two years of accounts in your sole trader role or previous employment history -if less than two years.
You could have an increased chance of acceptance for a mortgage if you opt to enter permanent employment, especially if you have been granted an "indefinido" contract. The overall decision on self-employed mortgage applications will always be based on your personal circumstances and financial status.
